Daytona Beach, also known as "The Halifax area" due to the Halifax river running through Daytona Beach and surrounding areas, is a city in Volusia County, Florida.  It is world-famous for the hard-packed sand which allows vehicles to drive on the beach quite near the surf.  Beginning in 1902, this made Daytona Beach a mecca for motor sports; hosting races on the old Daytona Beach Road Course for over 50 years.  This was replaced by The Daytona International Speedway in 1959 and the city of Daytona would become the headquarters for NASCAR.

No shortages of activities here in Daytona Beach with the many events throughout the year such as the "Big Daddy" of them all when NASCAR fans descend on the "Fun Coast" for the Daytona 500 in early February, Bike Week in early March, the Coke Zero 400 NASCAR race in July, and Biketoberfest in late October.  Choose your motor sport...Daytona has them all!!!

Daytona Beach, on the Atlantic Ocean, has over 20 miles of beaches to enjoy and is also known as "The World's Most Famous Beach".  Surf, swim, paddle board, or lounge in a beach chair under the gorgeous Florida sun.  For more fun in the sun, take it on over to Boardwalk Amusement Area and Pier and take a ride on the Ferris Wheel and grab some All-American Salt Water Taffy!  While there, check out the Daytona Beach Bandshell and enjoy a concert under the stars and grab a bite to eat at Pizza King then stroll down the Boardwalk as the beautiful blue ocean casts her spell!

After all of this activity, stomachs are bound to growl!  So, head on out on the Pier to Joe's Crab Shack and The Roof.  Literally on the roof of Joe's Crab Shack, with a gorgeous 360° view of Daytona Beach and the stunning Atlantic Ocean.  The Roof offers two dollar summer specials during Happy Hour Monday through Friday, 4-7 pm.  Also, have an appetizer with your drink like the awesome crab dip, Fiery Crab Poppers, or the plump and sweet Coconut Shrimp.  This only teases your belly, so head on down to Joe's restaurant and fill up on their famous Crab Buckets, Crab Cake Platters, Steam pots full of the ocean's goodness, and so much more!!!  You can't go wrong here on the Pier!

Daytona Beach has many cultural centers to enjoy.  Choose from the many museums in the area such as The Museum of Arts and Sciences, the Southeast Museum of Photography, and The Halifax Historical Museum.  Also check out The Root Family Museum featuring one of the largest Coca-Cola collections in the world, and the Dow American Gallery along with the Bouchelle Center for Decorative Arts which together form one of the finest collections of furniture and decorative arts in the Southeast!

After all of this fun, you are bound to need a nap so more fun can be had tomorrow...finding even more places to explore in beautiful Daytona Beach!  So, for a little R n' R check out The Hilton Oceanfront Resort, Hampton Inn Oceanfront, or Hawaiian Inn among the many great places to stay here on the beach.  Make memories here in this exciting place and plan to visit again and again.  The fun never stops here in gorgeous Daytona Beach, Florida...so come jump on the fast track with us!!!
